From The Chair

It was an honour for me to be elected chairman again this year. This will be my eighth year as chairman and I have loved every minute of it. Our wonderful DA grows year on year thanks to our loyal and happy members. This year will be my 13th as a member and my love for DA or social Camping is as strong as ever. I have been lucky to meet so many great friends during that time.

We have a very active youth and junior youth section and run various activities throughout the year. This encourages many members with families to come along and enjoy our fun and relaxing meets.

Our meets vary in venue type and size. From weekend meets with just a few units to THSs with over 100 units on site. There really is something for everyone.

We as a Camping family have a reputation for putting on a great party so if it’s fun you’re after then you’re in the right place!

We are continually looking to enhance our meets and over the last couple of years we have invested heavily in a new marquee for the larger events and a party tent for our more intimate meets.

I have just returned from my 6th Jean Stewart walk. A walk of 20 miles over 2 days carrying everything you need to survive, and I mean everything. The youths rucksacks weigh between 8 and 18 kg depending on how many luxuries you need to carry. This year saw us have 3 first timers which was fantastic. We also had two guys completing their tenth in a row as youth which gets their name on the trophy for the second time. Congratulations to everyone for completing the walk. This years weather proved predictable with 4 seasons in a day! As always the youth dug really deep and it is wonderful to see our more experienced walkers encouraging our younger youth. We always have a couple who after a couple of hours think they won’t make it, but they always do. No one ever fails!

So if it’s a fun loving party with plenty of youth or a quiet weekend on a full facility site you have come to the right place.

I would as always like to thank our commitee and non commitee volunteers for all of their help organising our busy calendar. Without them we could not continue to run so many events. I know I could not have continued in this position for so long without the support of my fantastic commitee and my wonderful family.

We are looking forward to our busy schedule for the 2019/2020 seasons. If anyone has any new venues they would like us to explore please drop us a message.

Being so busy means that we are looking for rally stewards constantly. It is much easier than you think and allows you some free Camping. If you would like to steward or would just like some information on it then please get in touch.

I will be out enjoying my Camping over most of the weekends and look forward to meeting many of you onsite. My door is always open so please pop over and say hi if you see me out and about.

If anyone needs any information about DA Camping, youth section or the club in general please feel free to contact me.
